Short-Term Stay After Hospital Admission
Patients that have been admitted to a hospital for a minimum of three nights may have the option for a short-term stay in our center to receive 24-hour Nursing care and Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy up to seven-days each week. Patients may also request a short-term Respite in-patient stay for periods of a few days to several months.

Patients that require a permanent in-patient stay may be admitted from the Hospital, Assisted Living Facility or Home after receiving an admission order from their primary physician.

[review] => My father was a patient at this horrible facility for almost 2 years. Now that my father has been moved from this facility, I feel comfortable leaving this review. From the administration down to the staff, this place does not care about the patients. My dad developed pressure wounds, had to be transported to the hospital for blood clots he developed in his legs due to not being properly turned, in which he had to have devices put into both of his legs. The facility lied about the physical therapy they were giving my dad, yet still charging his insurance for these services. My dad's hands developed a fungi due to them not properly treating his hands and rotating a dry towel on them and or changing the splint. My father wasn't given the opportunity to receive a second swallow evaluation and was forced to be on a feeding tube for almost 2 years. My dad was often found soaked in his own tribe, dirty, feet smelling horrible. My father was dropped out of his bed when one aide tried to rotate him, and we were told he threw himself out of the bed. How does someone who is a total care patient, can't move his limbs (at this time) throw himself out of the bed? Luckily he had a roommate who was able to let us know. My father was sent to the hospital a multitude of time for the neglect of the staff. They were not giving him the proper amount of meds for the seizures, so he was sent back out of the facility last Friday for seizures again where the hospital did blood work and found a severely low level of the meds in his system. The facility administered medicines without first contacting his Guardian to get approval. I could go on and on. Not only did this facility fail my dad, but so did the NC nursing board, APS and a multitude of entities.
I would HIGHLY suggest not taking your loved ones here, and if you have someone here, PLEASE get them out! If you are in the nursing field, and you're only in it to collect a check, please find a different field. These people are humans and deserve to be treated as such. My dad was treated like a stray dog, not a human being. Luckily for him, our family will not stand for such treatment. Others aren't as lucky because they don't have a voice to be heard.

I cannot in good conscience recommend Rocky Mount Rehabilitation Center to anyone seeking care for their loved ones. My family's experience here has been nothing short of heartbreaking, and I am deeply disturbed by the level of neglect and lack of compassion shown.
From the top down, the tone of this facility is unprofessional, unkind, and uncaring. When leadership fails to demonstrate respect, integrity, and concern for residents, it trickles down to every level of staff--from nurses to certified nursing assistants, social workers, and even reception. This is exactly what I witnessed.
The staff is openly rude, inattentive, and dismissive of their primary responsibility: to care for residents as human beings with dignity. I have personally witnessed animals receive better care than the treatment my loved one received here. Healthcare is supposed to embody compassion, excellence, and integrity--this facility embodies the opposite.
The neglect was not only emotional, but also physical and medical. My loved one developed fungal growth on his hands because staff left splints on all day, every day, without cleaning or checking them. This created a breeding ground for infection. Medication orders from doctors were ignored, resulting in dangerously low levels of seizure medication. This neglect caused repeated ER visits and hospitalizations that could have been avoided had staff administered medications properly.
Even more disturbing, I discovered staff were documenting and signing off on care that was never provided. This is not just negligence--it is a betrayal of trust and a violation of basic healthcare standards.
On Thursday, August 14, 2025, after my loved one suffered continuous seizures and had to be transported to the hospital, I saw firsthand the condition of his hands once the splints were removed. The sight was devastating, and I have photographic evidence to confirm this reality.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services has failed in its duty to hold this facility accountable. Long-term care does not equal neglect, lack of compassion, or verbal and emotional abuse--but that is exactly what is happening here.
I urge families: please do not place your loved ones in this facility. They care far more about billing and collecting checks than they do about providing actual care. My loved one has since been moved, but my heart breaks for the residents who remain--stripped of dignity, neglected, mistreated, and emotionally abused.
This facility represents everything healthcare should never be. My only regret is that I trusted them with someone I love.

Some aides barely giving your loved ones care . I visited my loved one nearly everyday last week my loved one was soiled wet and hadn't received a shower/ bath and it' was going on 2 clock in the afternoon. The call lights go off and won't nobody answer it they will walk around hollering down the hall who got this room does it matter the residents are everyone responsibility not just the person that got that assignment the worst customer service ever do your research before taking your loved one here.

The caregivers are attentive and truly engage with the residents, which has made a noticeable difference in my grandpa's spirits and recognition. While I hope to see him more active, I'm currently very pleased with the level of care he's receiving. Rocky Mount Rehabilitation has been a supportive resource, allowing us to manage our lives with peace of mind, knowing our loved one is well cared for. [review] => I wouldn’t send my worst enemy to this rehab nursing facility. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this place was severely mismanaged and completely lacking in basic human decency and care.
My loved one had previously been in another rehab facility where he made noticeable progress. Unfortunately, since being transferred here, he has only declined — and it’s no mystery why. The level of care here is shockingly poor and unacceptable.
Sanitization is clearly not a priority. The facility is often dirty, the rooms smell, and basic hygiene standards are not being followed. It feels more like a neglected warehouse than a place of healing or recovery.
The staff are cold, dismissive, and at times outright rude. They barely check on their patients, often ignoring them for hours at a time. When we raised concerns, we were met with unprofessional attitudes and excuses. It’s as if we were a burden just for advocating for basic care.
My loved one is a known fall risk, and they refused to use bed side rails, claiming they were “restraints” rather than a safety measure. That decision put him at serious risk and made it impossible for him to feel safe in bed. Worse still, they wouldn’t even assist him with showers or bathing. He went days without being cleaned — completely neglected.
Tasks were done half-heartedly, if at all. No sense of urgency, no compassion, and no attention to detail. It was heartbreaking and infuriating to watch someone I care about be treated with such disregard.
This place is disgusting, disorganized, and dangerous. No one deserves to be subjected to this level of neglect and disrespect. If you care about your loved one’s health, dignity, and safety — look elsewhere. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.

My mom loved the CNA'S that took care of her they also went above what was expected of them she was always clean and dry my mom would always bragg about her CNA when I visited.The nurses and CNA'S really was there for me when my mom passed away. My mom also loved there beautiful court yard. The one little guy that works in activities my mom said he was one of the sweetest people he had ever met. Ceiling tiles falling in pts rooms ( thank god the pts were moved ) one , yes ONE public bathroom for Visitors and staff ( there is another bathroom in the back for the staff) . The rooms are to small for two beds there is no where to move around . The ac units are disgusting in some of the pts rooms ... it's just so drab for the pts . The pts seem genuinely happy there and i believe they are taken care of well .

Our nurses was really nice, but the CNAS I don’t understand how can they let someone lay wet all night and others begging for a drink of water all night. I made one complaint to some supervisor that sits in the corner office like he some kind of GOD he did absolutely nothing he act like he didn’t care. I was always cleaning my husband and changing him. The nurse on second was the best. The other review I read about setting her mom back was right. They don’t give them a chance to get better.I was very pleased with the social workers I can’t thank them enough. But people be aware take your love one and run as far as you can from this place.

[review] => We checked mama into this facility because of a recommendation after leaving UNC Rex two weeks ago . Mama came here for short term rehab anything but that. They set her way back and the rehab needs an update. First of all they put her on the Covid side which mama had already gotten over that. They would not let her have a walker which set her way back in rehab. They took her chair out of her room that she loved to set in and gave her a wheelchair. She had to set in this wheelchair all day long and she has old back fractures. I called mama everyday and checked on her and got updated because that’s the only way I could. I was so mad when I found out all of this. I when over there on a Saturday evening and talked to the head charge nurse which was very nice. They only thing I did not like was no communication with family unless you call day and night. You’ve heard the old saying the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
It’s not a bad place but it could use some changes. I think the upper management stay in meetings all day and let the stressed out staff handle what ever happens. They do not have a doctor at this place. You get a internet doctor to make the big decisions and a PA I guess she’s that comes around. This place is not on the up and up. If you put your family members in this place please keep a check on them. It’s not as bad as MCgregor Downs in Greenville, NC. Rocky Mount rehab however let two wounds pop up on our moms legs. She didn’t have these wounds before entering this facility. Mama had told me one of the CNA’s struck her in the back of her leg with the wheelchair. I asked them about it and the charge nurse told me mama struck her leg over the wheelchair herself. NO, NO, NO, this is not how it happened. Why are you going to try and lie to me when I know what happened. Just be honest and tell the darn truth and I wouldn’t have been mad. I can’t stand someone to lie to me. They are not mean to them or anything like that just don’t call you back. I am so glad our mama is home now. Would I recommend this place probably so it’s not as bad as some of the others. Just please learn to tell the family the truth about what went down! Clean up your act and y’all will be ok!

[review] => If I could give this place a 0 I absolutely would. I read the reviews before my father was placed here, and I fought for him to go someplace else, however this was the only place available.
This place is horrific. They DO NOT care about your loved ones. They have no care whatsoever. It starts at the top... Janette has no control over her staff, doesn't care about the elderly and will not take care of issues. Quite frankly she is clueless as to what's happy in the facility.
My father asked for bed pans numerous of times with no response, no help and then when he dedicated on the bed the CNA Annette had the nerve to say he refused it. No he asked for it, you just wouldn't get it. Anette is a very spiteful CNA. Keep her away from your loved ones.
Update from this facility is administrator doesn't care. Entire staff is incompetent and no one wants to do the right thing. Every individual says it's not my job, my father was called white trash from a nurse, administrator did nothing.
The facility needs to be shut down. Went in on Sunday night, visitor opened the door which had an alarm, the alarm went off, no one up front. I recorded that for 10 minutes no staff member even went to check to see if a patient had walked out the door. These folks should be shameful of the facility that they run. Please don't let the pictures fool you. This place is nothing like the picture shows.

My father was placed in this facility for rehabilitation after surgery and during his time there he was given a rolling walker while being semi paralysized on his left side bc they had one hemi walker. They had difficulty managing my father's glucose bc they were not abiding by his dietary restrictions including a diabetic, cardio and renal.....Who gives a diabetic patient on dialysis recovering from open heart surgery fried fish sticks, french fries,white bread and unsweet tea for dinner without taking his blood sugar. One of the on call doctors refused to change the orders for insulin although his blood sugar ran consistently high. I finally called APS and made a report for medical neglect after my father had to be transported to the hospital ER twice within a 24 hour period. Little to no rehab was provided. Let's discuss the potential Medicaid/Medicare fraud bc another doctor who had never met my father during the duration of his stay recommended long term care in their facility not rehab although my dad can walk with assistance. As late as February 28 2022 they were being investigated for medical neglect.

My family's experience with Rocky Mount Rehabilitation has been overwhelmingly positive. It's such a relief knowing my grandpa is in good hands there. The caregivers are attentive and truly engage with the residents, which has made a noticeable difference in my grandpa's spirits and recognition. While I hope to see him more active, I'm currently very pleased with the level of care he's receiving.
